elbow pain treatment

Elbow pain can make lifting, gripping, exercising, working, and everyday activities more difficult. We take the time to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and build an individualized treatment plan to help you move more comfortably, build strength, and get back to the activities you enjoy.

elbow pain can show up in different ways

Elbow pain may feel like aching, stiffness, sharp pain with certain movements, or discomfort with gripping and lifting. You may notice symptoms during exercise, sports, repetitive work, carrying objects, or other activities that involve the hand, wrist, and forearm.

Symptoms may be felt around the inside, outside, front, or back of the elbow and can sometimes extend into the forearm. Elbow pain can begin after an injury or develop gradually over time, and understanding where you feel your symptoms, how they started, what movements affect them, and how they limit your activities helps us determine the best place to start.

what causes elbow pain?

Elbow pain doesn’t always come from one specific structure or injury. It can be influenced by irritation of muscles, tendons, connective tissues, or joints; repetitive gripping or lifting; changes in activity or training; and how the elbow and surrounding tissues are currently tolerating movement and load. Pain can also begin after an injury, such as a fall, collision, or sudden force through the arm.

That’s why we don’t base treatment on where it hurts alone. Your history, symptoms, movement, strength, mobility, and how the problem developed all help us understand what may be contributing to your elbow pain and whether further evaluation is needed.

TISSUES + JOINTS

Muscles, tendons, connective tissues, and joints can contribute to pain, stiffness, weakness, or restricted movement around the elbow.

INJURY + ACTIVITY

Sports, lifting, repetitive gripping, sudden increases in activity, or traumatic injuries can all influence elbow symptoms.

DAILY DEMANDS

Work, carrying, gripping, computer/phone use, household tasks, and other everyday demands can influence how your elbow feels and functions.

how we treat elbow pain

Treatment is individualized based on what we find during your assessment, how your symptoms behave, and what you want to get back to doing.

Your care may combine specific hands-on treatment with personalized rehabilitation exercises to address pain, improve elbow and upper body movement and strength, and gradually increase your ability to handle the activities that matter to you.

HANDS-ON TREATMENT

Specific soft tissue treatment, chiropractic adjustments, and joint mobilizations are used when appropriate to reduce pain, improve movement, and address areas of restriction in the elbow, forearm and surrounding regions.

PERSONALIZED REHAB

Exercises are selected based on your individual needs and may focus on elbow, wrist and upper body strength, mobility, stability, and movement control based on what we find during your assessment.

BUILDING CAPACITY

As you improve, we progressively prepare your arm for gripping, lifting, work, exercise, sports, and the activities you want to return to.
