neck pain treatment

Neck pain can make working, exercising, sleeping, driving, and everyday movement more difficult. We take the time to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and build an individualized treatment plan to help you move more comfortably, build strength, and get back to the activities you enjoy.

neck pain can show up in different ways

Neck pain may feel like stiffness, aching, or sharp pain with certain movements. You may notice difficulty turning your head, discomfort after sitting or working at a computer, or symptoms that become more noticeable with exercise, driving, or sleeping.

Symptoms may stay around the neck or extend into the head, upper back, shoulder blade, or arm. Neck pain can begin suddenly or develop gradually over time, and understanding where you feel your symptoms, what makes them better or worse, and how they affect your daily activities helps us determine the best place to start.

what causes neck pain?

Neck pain doesn’t always come from one specific structure or injury. It can be influenced by a combination of factors, including irritation of muscles, connective tissues, joints, or discs; changes in activity or training; repetitive positions or movements; and how your body is currently tolerating movement and load.

That’s why we don’t base treatment on where it hurts alone. Your history, symptoms, movement, strength, mobility, and the activities that matter to you all help us understand what may be contributing to your neck pain.

TISSUES + JOINTS

Muscles, connective tissues, joints, or discs can all contribute to pain, stiffness, or sensitivity around the neck and upper back.

ACTIVITY + TRAINING

Changes in training, workload, repetitive movement, or returning to activity can influence how your neck feels and functions.

DAILY DEMANDS

Computer work, studying, driving, sleep positions, and other everyday demands can influence neck pain and stiffness.

how we treat neck pain

Treatment is individualized based on what we find during your assessment, how your symptoms behave, and what you want to get back to doing.

Your care may combine specific hands-on treatment with personalized rehabilitation exercises to address pain, improve movement, build strength, and gradually increase your ability to handle the activities that matter to you.

HANDS-ON TREATMENT

Specific soft tissue treatment, chiropractic adjustments, and joint mobilizations are used when appropriate to reduce pain, improve movement, and address areas of restriction in the neck, upper back, and surrounding tissues.

PERSONALIZED REHAB

Exercises are selected based on your individual needs and may focus on neck, shoulder and upper back strength, mobility, and movement control based on what we find during your assessment.

BUILDING CAPACITY

As you improve, we progressively prepare your neck and upper body for the demands of everyday life, work, exercise, training, or the activities you want to return to.
