wrist + hand pain treatment

Wrist and hand pain can make gripping, lifting, exercising, working, and everyday activities more difficult. We take the time to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and build an individualized treatment plan to help you move more comfortably, build strength, and get back to the activities you enjoy.

wrist + hand pain can show up in different ways

Wrist and hand pain may feel like aching, stiffness, sharp pain with certain movements, numbness, tingling, or discomfort with gripping and lifting. You may also notice weakness or difficulty with tasks that require repeated use of the hand or wrist.

Symptoms may be felt around the wrist, hand, fingers, or forearm and can begin after an injury or develop gradually over time. Understanding where you feel your symptoms, how they started, what movements affect them, and how they limit your activities helps us determine the best place to start.

If numbness or tingling is present, we’ll also assess whether symptoms may be related to nerve involvement elsewhere in the arm or neck.

what causes wrist + hand pain?

Wrist and hand pain doesn’t always come from one specific structure or injury. It can be influenced by irritation of muscles, tendons, connective tissues, or joints; repetitive gripping or hand use; changes in activity or training; and how the surrounding tissues are currently tolerating movement and load. Pain can also begin after an injury, such as a fall, sports injury, or sudden force through the wrist or hand.

That’s why we don’t base treatment on where it hurts alone. Your history, symptoms, movement, strength, mobility, and how the problem developed all help us understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and whether further evaluation is needed.

TISSUES + JOINTS

Muscles, tendons, connective tissues, and joints can contribute to pain, stiffness, weakness, or restricted movement around the wrist and hand.

INJURY + ACTIVITY

Falls, sports injuries, repetitive gripping, lifting, or sudden changes in activity can all influence wrist and hand symptoms.

DAILY DEMANDS

Typing, computer use, work, carrying, gripping, household tasks, and other everyday demands can influence how your wrist and hand feel and function.

how we treat wrist + hand pain

Treatment is individualized based on what we find during your assessment, how your symptoms behave, and what you want to get back to doing.

Your care may combine specific hands-on treatment with personalized rehabilitation exercises to address pain, improve movement and strength, and gradually increase your ability to handle the activities that matter to you.

When symptoms suggest possible nerve involvement, we’ll also assess relevant areas of the arm, shoulder, and neck rather than focusing only on the wrist or hand.

HANDS-ON TREATMENT

Specific soft tissue treatment, chiropractic adjustments, and joint mobilizations are used when appropriate to reduce pain, improve movement, and address areas of restriction in the wrist, hand, forearm and surrounding regions.

PERSONALIZED REHAB

Exercises are selected based on your individual needs and may focus on wrist, hand and upper body strength, mobility, stability, and movement control based on what we find during your assessment.

BUILDING CAPACITY

As you improve, we progressively prepare your hand and wrist for gripping, lifting, work, exercise, sports, and the activities you want to return to.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST VISIT

Your first visit is about understanding what’s going on and beginning care.

When appropriate, we’ll begin treatment during your first visit and walk you through what we found, what we recommend, and how we’ll progress your care toward your goals.
