hip pain treatment

Hip pain can make walking, running, exercising, sitting, and everyday movement more difficult. We take the time to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and build an individualized treatment plan to help you move more comfortably, build strength, and get back to the activities you enjoy.

hip pain can show up in different ways

Hip pain may feel like aching, stiffness, sharp pain with certain movements, or discomfort during weight-bearing activities. You may notice symptoms with walking, running, squatting, climbing stairs, getting in and out of a chair, or sitting for longer periods of time.

Symptoms may be felt in the front, side, or back of the hip and can sometimes extend into the groin, thigh, or surrounding areas. Hip pain can begin after an injury or develop gradually over time, and understanding where you feel your symptoms, what movements affect them, and how they limit your daily activities helps us determine the best place to start.

what causes hip pain?

Hip pain doesn’t always come from one specific structure or injury. It can be influenced by irritation of muscles, tendons, connective tissues, or joints; changes in activity or training; repetitive demands; and how your hip is currently tolerating movement and load.

Pain can also begin after an injury, such as a fall, sports-related injury, or sudden change in movement. Your history, symptoms, movement, strength, mobility, and how your symptoms developed all help us understand what may be contributing and whether further evaluation is needed.

TISSUES + JOINTS

Muscles, tendons, connective tissues, and joints can contribute to pain, stiffness, or restricted movement around the hip.

ACTIVITY + TRAINING

Running, lifting, sports, changes in training, or repetitive movements can influence how your hip feels and functions.

DAILY DEMANDS

Walking, sitting, stairs, work, travel, and other everyday demands can influence hip pain and stiffness.

how we treat HIP pain

Treatment is individualized based on what we find during your assessment, how your symptoms behave, and what you want to get back to doing.

Your care may combine specific hands-on treatment with personalized rehabilitation exercises to address pain, improve hip and lower body movement and strength, and gradually increase your ability to handle the activities that matter to you.

HANDS-ON TREATMENT

Specific soft tissue treatment, chiropractic adjustments, and joint mobilizations are used when appropriate to reduce pain, improve movement, and address areas of restriction in the hip and surrounding regions.

PERSONALIZED REHAB

Exercises are selected based on your individual needs and may focus on hip and lower-body strength, mobility, stability, and movement control based on what we find during your assessment.

BUILDING CAPACITY

As you improve, we progressively prepare your hip and lower body for walking, running, lifting, exercise, sports, and the activities you want to return to.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST VISIT

Your first visit is about understanding what’s going on and beginning care.

We’ll talk through your symptoms, how they started, what makes them better or worse, and what you want to get back to doing. When appropriate, we’ll begin treatment during your first visit and walk you through what we found, what we recommend, and how we’ll progress your care toward your goals.
